Meeting for Worship

Quaker worship takes place when two or more

people feel the need to be still together.

The Bridgend Meeting for Worship takes place every

Sunday at 10.45am at the Friends’ Meeting House on

Park Street. This is on the right hand side as you go

down the hill into Bridgend and almost opposite the

entrance to the Coed Parc Reference Library. As can

be seen from the photograph, it is clearly signposted.

There will always be someone at the door to welcome

you, and the meeting starts once the first friend is

seated, and continues until 11.45, when it is

terminated by the Friends shaking each other's

hands. During this time, if anyone feels moved to

speak, then he or she is free to do so. However, there

are times when the whole meeting for worship passes

 by in silence.

After this there is a time of silence and an opportunity

to comment upon and discuss what may have been

said in the meeting and this, in turn, is followed by a

cup of tea or coffee and an opportunity to discuss

matters of concern to the meeting.

For those who find it difficult to attend the Sunday

Meeting for Worship,  a mid-week Meeting is held on

the second Tuesday in the month at 7.00 pm.

On the fifth Sunday of the month (if there is one),

there is usually a shared lunch after the Meeting and

This provides an opportunity to meet Friends in a

 socially relaxed atmosphere.

Please Note

A decision was recently taken to change the

start time of the Sunday Meeting for Worship

from 10.30 to 10.45am as from Sunday 4th Jan.

 2009.

This followed a review of local Sunday Bus Service

times and it was felt that the15 minutes shift will

make it easier for people relying on public transport

to arrive at the Meeting House in timely and unhurried

fashion and to encourage others currently using

personal transport to consider using public transport

as part of their contribution towards improving the

environment  and reduce their carbon footprint
